Finnegan's Wake

starting at 6:30pm at the Church of the Ascension on Princess Anne Road near the intersection of Baxter Road.

Tickets will absolutely NOT be available at the door this year. Tickets will go on sale starting February 04th and will cost $13.00 for adults.
Instead of the "chow line" for food as in past years, there will be assigned tables and dinner will be brought to the table.

A delicious corned beef and cabbage, Irish stew, or Macaroni & Cheese dinner will be served. Members bring homemade Irish Soda Bread and desserts. Of course, the requisite pints are available for a small donation as well.

There will be singing, performances by Glasgow Kiss, An Cor Rud/the Reel Thing, and of course, the crowning of our beloved ambassador, the T.I.A.S. Adult Princess 2010!

43rd Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade

We're once again marching in the parade.

Prior to the parade there will be a Nessie touch-up day. Date and time to be determined.

Assembly time is 9:00am with the parade kick-off time at 10:00am.
Our assigned form up area is Section 1, Position 143, somewhere in the vicinity of Westmont Avenue and Granby Street on the north side of Northside Middle School.

Parking is available at the terminus of the parade route with shuttle buses running from Ocean View Elementary School, at Government Ave. and Mason Creek Rd., to the Parade area between 8:00 and 9:45AM. Parade marshalls will be available to assist you, just look for the green jackets.

Don't forget to bring individually wrapped candy for distribution to our many young spectators. Let's put a smile on their faces.

St. Baldrick's Kid's Cancer fundraiser

In honor of our Scottish Ambassador, Jose

The mission of the St. Baldrick's Foundation is to raise awareness and funds to conquer Kids' Cancer by shaving heads on St. Baldrick's Day.
Javier (Jose's dad) has created a Team to participate in the Norfolk event. The name of the Team is: Yes Way, Jose!

Activities will take place at the Waterside Festival Marketplace from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm.

Kirkin' o' th' Tartan at Historic Christ Church

A relaxing family outing and Scottish comradery during Virginia's beautiful Spring in the serene and timeless beauty of Virginia's Northern Neck.

Schedule:
  • 11:30am -- Welcome Coffee and Pastries hosted by the Foundation for Historic Christ Church (Bayne Center located on the grounds of Christ Church).
  • 12:00pm -- Assembly of all who are presenting their tartans. The color guard made up of members from the Tidewater/Williamsburg Scottish organizations and the Kilmarnock and District Pipe Band will assemble at this time. All other persons, families, and friends may enter the church at their leisure during this period.
  • 12:30pm -- Church service and the Kirkin-o'-the-Tartan. Episcopal Church in Kilmarnock and Rector of Historic Christ Church in Irvington, will officiate. Special music during the service will be provided by the Kilmarnock and District Pipe Band.
  •  1:30pm -- Following the service, the Kilmarnock and District Pipe Band will present a gala band recital at the Church main gate. All members, their families, and everyone attending the church service are encouraged to participate.
  •  2:00pm -- Lunch at Eckhard’s Restaurant located two miles on Route 3 at the south end of the Rappahannock River Bridge.

Dress:
Members are asked to wear Scottish daywear, trews, or normal Sunday wear. Ladies are invited to wear Scottish dress or a "touch of the tartan." Let's make this a colorful and festive event.

Directions:
  •  From Norfolk/Virginia Beach, take Rte 17 N to Saluda. Turn right at the light in Saluda onto Rte 33 an to continue on 33. After ca. 5 miles, at Harmony Grove Baptist Church (which will be on your right), take a left onto Rte 3. Once you cross the Rappahannock river, you will come into White Stone For Christ Church, continue straight through the light until you come to the first left, Rte 646, which will take you to the church.
  •  From Richmond, take Interstate 64 East to the West Point exit (# 220), and follow Rte 33 to Saluda. Turn right at the light in Saluda and continue on Rte 33. *After ca. 5 miles, at Harmony Grove Baptist Church (which will be on your right), take a left onto Rte 3. Once you cross the Rappahannock river, you will come into White Stone. For Christ Church, continue straight through the light until you come to the first left, Rte 646, which will take you to the church.
  •  From Williamsburg, take Rte 60 N to Rte 33. Follow Rte 33 through West Point to Saluda. Turn right at the light in Saluda and continue on Rte 33. *After ca. 5 miles, at Harmony Grove Baptist Church (which will be on your right), take a left onto Rte 3.
